SECTION P - GOLF EXTENSION
This Section is only valid if the additional premium has been paid and this is shown on Your Validation Certificate. Golf Equipment shall mean golf clubs, golf bags, golf shoes and non-motorised golf trolleys belonging to the insured person. Golf balls and tees and other miscellaneous items are not included.
Section P – Golf Cover
This extension provides the following cover specifically for any golfing trips.
Section P1 – Loss of Green Fees
Extra cover up to the amount shown above for any irrecoverable unused green fees if cancellation of the trip is unavoidable or curtailed before completion as a result of any events covered under Section A – Cancellation or curtailment.
Section P2 – Golf Equipment Cover
Extra cover in addition to the cover provided under Section E – Baggage, you are covered up to the amounts shown above: For accidental loss of, theft of or damage to golf equipment (at today’s prices, less a deduction for wear tear and depreciation). Emergency replacement of golf equipment if temporarily lost in transit during the outward journey and not returned within 12 hours (written confirmation from public transport provider required, confirming number of hours the golf equipment was delayed). If loss is permanent, the amount already paid for temporary loss will be deducted from final payment).
The cost of hiring replacement golf equipment as a result of accidental loss, theft, damage, temporary loss in transit during the outward journey for more than 12 hours of your own golf equipment, as long as we receive written confirmation from the public transport provider, confirming the number of hours the golf equipment was delayed.
Section P3 – Liability for Golf Buggies Whilst in Use
You are covered for the amount shown in the table above (including legal costs and expenses) against any amount, arising from your ownership, possession or use of a golf buggy, which you become legally liable to pay as compensation for any claim or series of claims arising from any one event for accidental:
Bodily injury, death, illness or disease to any person who is not in an insured person’s employment or who is not a close relative or member of an insured person’s household.
Loss of or damage to property that does not belong to and is neither in the charge of or under the control of an insured person, a close relative, anyone in an insured person’s employment or any member of an insured person’s household.
Section P4 – Hole in One Cover
You are covered up to the amount shown in the table above for bar bills that the insured person incurs as a result of getting a hole in one. You can claim for one hole in one under this insurance in each period of insurance.
Special Conditions Relating to Claims Under Sections P1-P4 Inclusive:
You must get a medical certificate from a medical practitioner and the prior approval of the 24 hour emergency medical service to confirm the necessity to return home prior to curtailment of the trip due to death, bodily injury, illness or disease.
If an insured person fails to notify the travel agent, tour operator or golf club as soon as the insured person finds out it is necessary to cancel the trip, the amount we will pay will be limited to the cancellation charges that would have been payable had such notification taken place.
If an insured person cancels the trip due to: a) stress, anxiety, depression or any other mental or nervous disorder that the insured person is suffering from, the insured person must provide (at his/her own expense) a medical certificate from a consultant specialising in the relevant field or b) any other bodily injury, illness or disease an insured person must provide (at his/her own expense) a medical certificate from a medical practitioner stating that this necessarily and reasonably prevented the insured person from travelling.
An insured person must report to the local police in the country where the incident occurred within 24 hours of discovery or as soon as practicable after that and get (at the insured person’s own expense) a written report of the loss, theft or attempted theft of all golf equipment.
If golf equipment is lost, stolen or damaged while in the care of a public transport provider, authority, hotel or an insured person’s accommodation provider the insured person must report details of the loss, theft or damage to them in writing and get (at the insured person’s own expense) written confirmation.
If golf equipment is lost, stolen or damaged whilst in the care of an airline an insured person must: a) get a Property Irregularity Report from the airline. b) give formal written notice of the claim to the airline within the time limit contained in their conditions of carriage (please retain a copy). c) keep all travel tickets and tags for submission to us if an insured person is going to make a claim under this insurance.
An insured person must provide (at his/her own expense) an original receipt or proof of ownership for items lost, stolen or damaged to help an insured person to provide evidence to support his/her claim.
An insured person must give us written notice of any incident which may result in a claim as soon as practicable.
An insured person must send us every writ, summons, letter of claim or other document as soon as the insured person receives it.
An insured person must not admit any liability or pay, offer to pay, promise to pay or negotiate any claim without our permission in writing.
We will be entitled to take over and carry out in an insured person’s name the defence of any claims for compensation or damages or otherwise against any third party. We shall have full discretion in the conduct of any negotiation or proceedings or in the settlement of any claim and an insured person must give us all information and assistance which we may require.
If an insured person dies, his/her legal representative(s) will have the protection of this cover as long as they comply with the terms and conditions outlined in this policy.
An insured person must obtain written confirmation from the appropriate golf course authority confirming the insured person’s hole in one.
What is Not Covered under Sections Section P1 – P4 inclusive

The excess shown in the Table of Benefits under Sections P2 and P3.
Any claims arising directly or indirectly from: a) Redundancy caused by or resulting from misconduct leading to dismissal, or from resignation or voluntary redundancy or where an insured person received a warning or notification of redundancy before you purchased this insurance or at the time of booking any trip b) Circumstances known to an insured person before you purchased this insurance or at the time of booking any trip which could reasonably have been expected to lead to cancellation or curtailment of the trip.
Loss, theft of or damage to golf equipment contained in an unattended vehicle unless: a) it is locked out of sight in a secure baggage area and b) forcible and violent means have been used by an unauthorised person to gain entry into the vehicle and evidence of such entry is available
Loss or damage due to delay, confiscation or detention by customs or any other authority.
Loss or damage caused by wear and tear, depreciation (loss in value), atmospheric or climatic conditions, moth, vermin, any process of cleaning repairing or restoring, mechanical or electrical breakdown.
